Fort Plain residents urged to get vaccine

FORT PLAIN, NY – Montgomery County Public Health Department officials are urging local citizens affected by the flooding to get up to date with Tetanus protection.

“If you have not had a Tetanus/Diptheria (Td) or Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis (Tdap) booster within the last 10 years, or can't remember your last one, YOU ARE AT RISK,” officials say.

“Tetanus bacteria is widespread in the environment – in soil, dust and animals. It enters the body through cuts, scrapes, splinters, and any open wound.”

Nurses will be driving the Montgomery County Van #312 throughout Fort Plain offering vaccine Sunday beginning at 9 a.m.

And Dr. Govind Rao will host a free clinic for the Tdap vaccine at his office at 16 Hancock St., Fort Plain, on Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

No appointment is necessary.
