Police: Two men arrested for robbery at Hampton Motel

HAMPTON, N.Y. — Two New York City men were arrested by State Police Friday in connection with an April 11 gunpoint robbery at Hampton Motel that triggered a shooting at a trailer park hours.

Tyshen Matthews, 41, and James Neal, 40, both of Brooklyn, were arrested following an investigation into a shooting that occurred at Molinero's Trailer Park on State Route 4 in the Town of Whitehall. At the time of the shooting, both trailers were occupied by several people, none were injured.

Police said the shooting occurred in retaliation for a robbery that Matthews and Neal had committed the previous evening at the motel. During the robbery numerous electronics and items of jewelry were stolen.

Matthews and Neal were located and arrested in New York City by members of the New York State Police in Greenwich, New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team,  New York State Police Violent Felony Warrant Squad, New York State Police Manhattan, the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the New York City Police Department.

Both men were remanded to the Washington County Jail and charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree.  The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are still possible.
