Albany hosts 9th Annual Juneteenth Celebration

ALBANY,
N.Y. – Mayor Jerry Jennings joined City of Albany officials Saturday for the
9th Annual Juneteenth Celebration in Washington Park.

Juneteenth has long been a celebration of
freedom, as the date symbolizes the end of slavery and serves as a
historical milestone reminding Americans of their later emancipation. It also serves as a day to honor those who survived the of bondage.

From noon to 6 p.m. area residents
celebrated the city's history and potential for positive changes in the future with a host of
family fun events, including a talent and
variety show, musical performances and a
dance-off competition.
