ALBANY, NY – Scott VanDerveer's remarkable worldwide journey to becoming a priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany came to fruition today at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany.

The very moving ceremony was witnessed by close to 1,000 well wishers, to include: clergy, religious, family, former students, parishioners and friends from across the United States and from three countries.

Scott's experience in the Albany Diocese includes service at St. Pius X in Loudonville, Holy Family Parish in Little Falls, Sts. Anthony and Joseph Parish in Herkimer, and St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Albany.

Bishop Howard J. Hubbard, presider at Scott's ordination, expressed gratitude to Scott for having invited to the ceremony Bishop Emeritus Matthew H. Clark of Rochester, who is a native of the Albany Diocese. “This shows the link between the Diocese of Rochester and the Diocese of Albany.”
