Dozens of cats seized from Queensbury home

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – Animal control officers in Queensbury have removed 67 cats from the home of a man who has cancer, after the people charged with taking care of them failed to do so.

The NEWS CENTER is told the owner of the home was in the hospital for two months and was relying on others for help. Those peopel allegedly failed to take care of the home along with all the cats.

The home was found a complete mess, and all cats were surrendered to the Glens Falls Animal Hospital on Thursday night after smell complaints from neighbors.

Dr. John O'Connor says the cats appear to all be healthy and friendly, which is unusual with most “hoarding” cases. Their owner tells the NEWS CENTER each cat had a name and a story.

The Warren County Sheriff says the bank is foreclosing on the man's home and he will be evicted Friday.

The owner of the cats, a man in his 50's, is not facing any charges.
