Small plane crashes in Ulster County woods

ELLENVILLE, N.Y. – State Police say a small plane crashed into the woods in Ulster County late Thursday morning; thankfully the pilot escaped with only minor injuries.

Police say just after 11 a.m. Thursday a single-engine Piper aircraft with one person on board made a forced
landing due to engine trouble in a wooded area of Minnewaska State Park in the village of Ellenville.

The FAA says the plane was inbound to Orange County Airport in Montgomery. The extent of
damage, if any, to the aircraft is unknown. The FAA is investigating the incident.

New York State Police say the pilot suffered minor injuries.
