GRANBY, Mass. – Three students are recovering after getting struck by lightning at a western Massachusetts private school.
Steve Griffin, head of the MacDuffie School in Granby, says the three students were struck while sitting outside at a picnic table on Tuesday afternoon.
He tells the NEWS CENTER that two students were knocked unconscious while a third suffered less serious effects. Three faculty members performed CPR at the scene before all three students were taken to area hospitals.
Their ages are 16, 17 and 20. He did not disclose names.

As of Thursday morning, Griffin says two of the three students were released from the hospital and the third is expected to make a full recovery.

MacDuffie is a coeducational school with about 200 students in grades 6 through 12, about half whom are boarders.
