Spring cleaning kicks off in Cohoes with Hazardous Waste Day

COHOES, N.Y. – Cohoes residents began their spring cleaning Saturday during Cohoes Hazardous Waste Day which coincided with its annual Spring Clean Up Day.

Hazardous Waste Day offers citizens a way to dispose dangerous products in a safe way with zero hassle.

If they are disposed of incorrectly, hazardous waste products can end up at local landfills where they can seep into the ground, contaminating the land. These products are often characterized as garbage that is flammable, corrosive, reactive, or toxic.

From 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. residents can bring their household waste to Lansing Park. Passenger vehicles are allowed at no cost, pickups for $10, $20 for vehicles with a trailer, and $50 for any U-Haul's. Proof of residence is required to drop off items.

Check out the list of acceptable items at the top of this page.
