KINDERHOOK, N.Y. – A 22-year-old man
is under arrest after police say he hit a pedestrian while driving an ATV
intoxicated, and then fled the scene.
According to State police, Trevor
Zolner was operating a 2002 Honda ATV in a northerly direction on the
Concourse when he struck a 16-year-old pedestrian who was walking on the east
edge of the roadway with a friend.
The victim was transported to Albany
Medical Center by Valatie Rescue Squad where she was treated for a concussion,
severely fractured right leg, kidney and liver injuries, as well as multiple
pelvic fractures. Her friend was able to get out of the way of the
ATV in time and was uninjured.
Zolner fled the scene only to be
located by troopers a short time later. He was also transported by Valatie
Rescue Squad to Albany Medical Center and treated for a fractured sternum and
lacerations to his nose, face, both hands and both elbows. A 19-year-old
passenger on the ATV declined medical help.
He was arrested for Driving While
Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Personal
Injury, and multiple other vehicle and traffic law violations.
