Saratoga Springs Police Chief announces retirement

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Saratoga Springs Police Chief Christopher Cole announced his retirement
from the department after 23 years of service.

Although a specific date has yet to be determined, it is expected that his
retirement will take effect toward the latter part of May.

Cole said in a statement:

“It is with mixed emotions that I announce my retirement from the department
that has literally been a part of my life since I was a child. Saratoga has seen
many changes over the years but one thing that has remained constant is the
dedication of the men and women who have chosen law enforcement as their chosen
profession. Our citizens should be extremely proud of the work our police
officers do on a daily basis –much of it unseen or unheard and always unsung.
Their efforts ensure that Saratoga Springs will continue to thrive as both a
vibrant and safe community as well as a national travel destination.

Although my retirement closes the door on this chapter of my career,
other doors are opening. I have decided that I would like to pursue those other
new opportunities while I am still young and energetic.

I want to thank
the members of the public for supporting our department and just as importantly,
I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the members of the
department – young and old, active and retired -who have supported, mentored and
advised me through the years. It has been an honor and privilege to work with
each one of you.”
