EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. – Police in East Greenbush are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect running from an armed robbery at the “Adult World” store Wednesday night.

Police say an unknown male ran from the store, at 275 Columbia Turnpike, around 11:15 p.m.

Surveillance video shows the account given by the lone store employee, that a man dressed in dark clothing, wearing a full face ski mask entered the store and assaulted him with a handgun by repeatedly putting the gun to his body and head and forcing him to the floor.

Dan Derksen says he was in the process of cleaning the store for closing when the suspect walked in.

“He brandished a gun to my neck” says Derksen.  “He was asking where the money was.  It's hard to say if it was random or if he had been in the store prior.”

In the surveillance video you can see the suspect put the gun to Derksen's body and head, forcing him to the floor.

“I've never had any incidents like this,” says Derksen.  “I just let him do what he needed to do and got out of there.”

Adult World manager Carle Plowman says the suspect made away with $450 in cash from a safe.  Both Plowman and Derksen say they are thankful for surveillance video.

“To help catch a thief, it's an awesome thing for stores to have,” says Plowman.''

“At least we're able to get fill-in-the-blanks for what I can't describe,” adds Derksen.  “At least they have some sort of picture description of him.”

Derksen told police that his attacker was a black male, approximately 30 years of age, approximate height 5' 9″.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 479-2525.
