Saratoga Springs police raid home tied to machete attack

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) – Police in Saratoga
Springs raided the home of a man suspected in a machete attack as part
of an ongoing drug probe.

Authorities converged on the home Friday evening and took six
people into custody. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
The district attorney said the raid was conducted as part of an
investigation into drugs on the street.

The residence is the home of 46-year-old Russell
Duffney Jr. He is charged with first-degree assault and criminal
possession of a weapon. Police said he nearly sliced off a man's ear
with a machete when a fight broke out during a cookout there.

It wasn't clear how the drug investigation and the machete attack were related.
