MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. – A local deli is out thousands of dollars after a robbery on Easter Sunday left them with a broken window and a missing safe.

A six-year-old business, Faldoni's Deli and Catering sits on the corner of Route 32 and Park Avenue in Mechanicville.

The robbery has taken a huge toll on the self-described “mom and pop” shop according to owner John Falco.

Falco says every bit of income counts for him and his business partner, but he says the support of the community has been wonderful – both before and certainly after the robbery as well.

Falco tells the NEWSCENTER that a window in the back of the business was smashed during the robbery, $100 stolen from the cash register, and the safe gone — inside, thousands of dollars from four days of business.

He says while hindsight is 20-20. He and business partner are looking into getting a security system, as well as changing their policies of leaving cash inside the business.

Falco says this isn't a reality he ever thought he'd have to deal with.
