Business group supporting Cuomo top spending lobby

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) – The organization created by New
York City business interests to support Gov. Andrew Cuomo is again the
state's top lobbying group, spending twice as much as the next biggest
spenders.

State lobbying reports show the Committee to Save New York spent more than $4 million lobbying last year.

That's double the amounts spent individually by
Exxon, Major League Soccer and Albany's powerful teacher and public
employee unions.

The Committee to Save New York has refused to identify its donors or say if they do business with the state.

It aired campaign-like TV ads since Cuomo was elected, helping boost his high poll ratings and political capital.

Lobbying groups influence government and the public
on legislation and state spending. The reports were released Thursday
by the Joint Commission on Public Ethics.
