Teen turns himself into police, faces charges in Takim Smith murder

TROY,
N.Y. — Police say 16-year-old Chawn Sheares, of Troy, turned himself in at around
5 p.m. Friday evening.

He faces
several charges, including 2nd-Degree Murder, Robbery, and Conspiracy.

Sheares
is the seventh person — five of them teens– to be arrested in connection with
the homicide at the Corliss Park apartment complex last month.

Police
tell NEWS10 Takim Smith was lured to an apartment with the offer of sex but was
then attacked and stabbed in a robbery attempt. He died as a result of his
injuries.
