Officials fight against budget cuts helping people with disabilities

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Local state officials are calling for restoration of severe cuts included in the proposed budget of the Office for
People with Developmental Disabilities Friday.

Senator Cecilia Tkaczyk and Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara will join people
with developmental disabilities, their parents and advocates at the Schenectady ARC to fight against the proposed cuts in the State budget, which total $120 million, forcing layoffs and program reductions.

The Office for
People with Developmental Disabilities offer medical and clinical services, help people with
developmental disabilities find employment and live independently, and also
provide support to families caring for disabled loved ones, all which Senator Tkaczyk and Assemblyman Santabarbara are fighting for.
