Thruway crash that killed two and left a child in the hospital

Four-month-old infant Tajaye Weller was injured when a car driven by 43-year-old Julian With of Coxsackie driving in the wrong direction in the southbound lane collided head-on with a minivan operated by Karen Weller, 39 of Onatrio, Canada.

Weller, Tajaye's mother, was treated and released from Albany Medical Center, but the boy remains in serious condition.

With was killed as a result of the accident, and the front seat passenger of the minivan, 50-year-old Carol Dion of Ontario, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Bethlehem Police Department, With had been arrested Thursday for Criminal contempt in the 2nd-Degree, a misdemeanor charge.

According to police, while at the Chili's restaurant on ST-9W, Glenmont, he was involved in a domestic dispute where an order of protection issued by the Albany County Family Court was violated. He was processed and arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and released after posting $5,000 bail, and was scheduled to reappear in Town Court on March 19th.

Members of the Bethlehem Police Department have been in contact with the New York State Police regarding the accident.

An investigation into why With was traveling in the wrong direction on the Thruway is currently underway.
