SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Saratoga Springs School District Superintendent Michael Piccirillo tells NEWS10 the school has suspended Boys Varsity Basketball Coach Jack Brock pending further investigation.
Athletic Director Peter Sheehan says Brock was suspended due to an “alleged report of inappropriate comments.”
Parents of athletes tell NEWS10 the incident took place Tuesday night after a game between Saratoga and Burnt Hills. The parents, who wished to remain anonymous, said Brock was coming down on one of the athletes after losing the game.
Another athlete came to his teammate's defense and first swore at the coach. Then they say the coach cussed at him.
The parents say it has been a tough year on the kids, saying Brock should have never swore at them.
Piccirillo says Sheehan is conducting an internal investigation and the school won't comment further until the investigation is complete.
Sheehan says this is Brock's first year as varsity coach. He has coached junior varsity basketball, soccer and lacrosse in the past.
Brock is suspended from coaching right now, but he is still working as PE teacher for Geyser Road Elementary School in Saratoga Springs.
Piccirillo says there have not been any complaints from students regarding Brock in the past. Results of the investigation are expected Friday.
In the meantime, the team will be coached by assistant coaches Damian Fantauzzi and Greg Goering.
Officials tell NEWS10 the district plans to release the findings of their investigation Friday.
The team plays in the Suburban Council North Division. They are currently forth out of six teams. They are 4-7 in the conference and 6-8 overall. The next game is scheduled for Friday evening at Shenendehowa.
NEWS10 reached out to coach Brock, but has not recieved a reply by deadline.
