Public hearing on rail station parking rates announced by CDTA

ALBANY, N.Y. – A public hearing will be held by the Capital District Transportation Authority, or CDTA, to allow comments on a newly proposed rate structure for the Rensselaer Rail Station and the permanent increase in special event pricing for the Saratoga Springs Train Station

The CDTA is proposing a new rate structure for Rensselaer Rail Station parking to be comparable with similar Capital Region facilities. According to the organization, the parking revenue will help support increased operational costs and go toward the repair and maintenance of the station, garage and the parking lots.

Proposed Rensselaer Rail Station Parking Rate Structure:

  • $12 garage
  • $8 lot a
  • $7 lot b
  • Parking in lots a & b will cost $2 for the first hour
  • Free 2 hour parking on Rail Station Platform will remain the same
  • Weekly Rates: Garage – $50, Lot A – $35 & Lot B – $30

Proposed “Special Event” Pricing For Saratoga Springs Train Station:

A pilot program was instituted for special event parking in fall 2012. The pilot program charged $5 per vehicle to park at the station during special events and the pricing will become permanent for special events on April 1, 2013.
