SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – A 26-year-old man was arrested by police after a disturbance report led to assault and the discovery of drugs in his possession in Saratoga Springs.
Saturday at 3:50 a.m., officers on Caroline Street were approached by the security for Desperate Annie's Bar on Caroline Street. The security guard stated they were having a problem with a person in the bar and that the person refused to leave.
When officers approached the front door of the bar, a male subject pushed his way out and was identified by the security guard as the person causing the disturbance.
Officers attempted to stop the man, who was later identified as Nicholas W. Callahan, 26, of Claremont Road, Stillwater, but he pushed officers out of the way and took off running.
A foot chase began, and officers chased Callahan for two blocks until he was caught on Henry Street in front of the library. Callahan was placed under arrest and transported to the police department.
While at the police department, Callahan was found to be in possession of cocaine and various pills during his processing.
His charges are as follows:
- Assault 2nd-Degree /prevent police
- Resisting arrest
- Obstructing governmental administration second
- (2) counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance
