New Mass. law could lead to price guessing

Mass. – Shoppers in Massachusetts
could be facing a price guessing game as food stores are no longer required to
use price stickers.

The law scheduled to go
into effect on January 1 allows shop owners to place price scanners around the
store, rather than using individual price stickers.

Store owners pushed for
the new law, saying it would save them the expense of having to put stickers on
everything in their shops. But consumer advocates opposed the law; they say
scanners will lead to a “guess the price” game before heading to the
checkout line.
