BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. – After 11 years with Ballston Spa High School, teacher and varsity football coach John Bowen resigned Friday.
According to a statement posted on the schools website, Bowen based the decision on personal and family reasons.
During his coaching tenure, Bowen guided the Scotties to a 57-34 overall record and is the only coach to lead Ballston Spa to a Section II Super Bowl.
“The district appreciates Coach Bowen's commitment to our football program and the students from our community during his tenure over the past 11 years. We are confident that his legacy will serve as the foundation as we continue to develop student athletes and the football program in Ballston Spa. The district administration will be organizing a selection process for a new head coach after the New Year begins,” said the school in a statement.
