Two accidents within minutes of each other on icy Vermont road

WOODFORD, N.Y. – Icy road conditions bested two drivers in Vermont leading to a two-car crash.

On Friday night, Vermont State Police responded the area near Woodford Lake on Vt. Route 9, for a multiple vehicle crash.

The first vehicle, operated by Heather Abbott, 37, of Searsburg, went off the road as a result of icy road conditions. Abbott lost control of her vehicle as she rounded a slight corner as she was travelling east toward Searsburg. Abbott and her passenger, Shawn Cromack, 38, were transported to SVMC by Bennington Rescue and Pownal Rescue for precautionary reasons after reporting head, back and neck pain.

A second vehicle operated by Cassandra Kilbride, 26, of Searsburg, also went off the

Road when she lost control of her vehicle. Kilbride struck a boulder protruding from the ground when avoiding a collision with another vehicle stopped to check on Abbott and her passenger.

No injuries were reported from Kilbride or her 2 passengers.

Road conditions at the time were icy, making travel difficult. According to Vermont State Police, these road conditions were a major factor in both vehicle crashes.
