Community shouts ‘Stop the Violence,’ on Albany streets

ALBANY,
N.Y. – A community shouted “Stop the Violence,” loud and clear Thursday night on
the streets of Albany.

SNUG,
Cease Fire, and community activists joined together at the corner of Ontario
and Second Street to hold a community shooting response.

This
community spirit follows the killing of 23-year-old Iquan Carter late Tuesday
morning.

Neighbors
say the killing has to stop – that their kids need a safe place to grow up and
that without investing in a community, change cannot begin.

“When the
community begins to come together then it's up to the leaders in those
communities to start directing them in the right path and providing those
opportunities so that way they will put down the guns,” said community activist
Corey Ellis.

Police have not made any arrests in Iquan Carter's murder.
