SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Organized by students and Schenectady County Community College members, a vigil was held for Tonette Thomas, a former student, Thursday. Thomas was stabbed to death by her sister's ex-boyfriend in November.
Tonette's death and more recently– the murder of Nicki Hart- a mother and realtor in Rensselaer County – is placing a sharp focus on preventing domestic violence.
It's something that Tonette's father, Anthony Thomas, certainly wants to see stop. He said he wants to see stiffer penalties and better protection for victims.
His oldest daughter, who was also injured in the attack, was in the process of trying to get a restraining order against the suspect, Michael Anderson, before the attack.
