TROY, N.Y.—Troy police are searching for a suspect in what they are calling a brazen robbery at the Gulf gas station on Hoosick street.
Police say the surveillance video is one of the best pieces of evidence they have right now and are hoping the public can help lead them to an arrest.
The robbery occurred 10:50 Thursday night. The clerk had already locked the doors and was getting ready to leave. According to the police report, when the clerk went to exit, that's when the suspect pushed his way in, pointing a black handgun at him.
In the surveillance video, you can see the suspect force the clerk backward, behind the counter, demanding money.
Jimmy Anwar, one of the owners of the gas station, says the suspect made off with four hundred dollars.
Anwar believes the suspect had been watching the store for some time.
Captain John Cooney of the Troy Police Department says the fact that a getaway car was waiting outside is a rarity in robberies in the city.
Cooney says the specifics of the incident is of some concern to the police department
Anwar says this is the first armed robbery the gas station has ever fallen victim to in 11 years.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Troy Police Department.
