SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – What began as a foot chase soon became a rescue in Saratoga Springs after officers responded to reports of a suspicious white male walking through backyards.

On Friday morning, Saratoga Springs Police Officers responded to the area of Brookwood Drive and Kirby Road for reports of a suspicious white male walking through backyards.

When officers arrived, the male began running through yards and a foot chase ensued. The chase crossed Route 9N at Kirby Road and continued through a large field behind the old Ash Grove Restaurant.

Officers and members of the NYSP established a perimeter from 9N to Locust Grove Road to Denton Road and a search of the area began. About 15 minutes in to the search and in an area that was heavily overgrown, officers could hear someone calling for help.

Stephen Allen, 25, was located partially submerged in a creek that runs between 9N and Denton Road. Allen was unable to move on his own so he was helped out of the water by officers and taken to an area where he could be treated by EMS.

Allen was later transported to Saratoga Hospital for treatment. As of this time Allen is still being treated at Saratoga Hospital for Hypothermia and the incident is still under investigation.
