Preparations underway for massive Equinox Thanksgiving dinner

ALBANY, N.Y. – Preparations for the Thanksgiving dinner put on by Equinox each year are underway, with several volunteers working shifts throughout Wednesday to ensure everything is in order for the holiday.

This year marks the 43rd annual Equinox Thanksgiving Dinner, an event that continues to grow every year. This year, they expect to serve 9,500 meals.

The dinner is held at the First Presbyterian Church, 362 State Street in Albany. Home delivery is also an option for home-bound residents within a 40-mile radius of downtown Albany.

Equinox relies on the generosity of the community and help of thousands of volunteers each year. The organization says they have 345 turkeys ready to go, but still need store-bought pies and ham donations. They need 720 pies, but are 300 short as of Wednesday afternoon. They also still need drivers to deliver Thanksgiving meals.
