Man arrested for stabbing in Saratoga Springs

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Saratoga Springs Police have arrested Michael Bies, 26, of Albany Street, Schenectady, NY, for the Broadway stabbing on September 23rd.

It was nearly a month ago when a 24-year-old male was stabbed multiple times, and treated at the scene by Saratoga Springs Fire Department personnel before being transported to Albany Medical Center, where he was treated for non-life threatening stab wounds.

Police believe that an altercation occurred between two groups of males inside the Paddock Lounge on Caroline Street. All parties were removed from the bar by employees of the establishment.

The altercation then continued on the street to the west side of Broadway across from Caroline Street where the stabbing occurred.

Officer's secured video from various locations on Caroline Street and through the use of that video and information obtained during the investigation; Investigators began looking for a suspect in Amsterdam, NY. With the help of the Amsterdam Police Department, the suspect in the video was identified as Bies who resides in Schenectady, NY.

Bies was arrested and charged with Assault in the 2nd-Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. He was arraigned and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail on $10,000 cash and $20,000 bond bail.
