Over 30 car thefts reports in Greenwich

GREENWICH, N.Y. – The Greenwich Police Department is investigating up to 30 reports of recent car thefts from residents in the village.

Police say miscellaneous items were stolen from vehicles include hunting knives, loose change, and an iPhone. The reported thefts happened early Thursday and into Thursday evening around Corliss Avenue, Washington Street, Elbow Street and John Street.

Police say none of the thefts were by forced entry; all cars were unlocked. Many items were left in cars the untouched, including credit cards and laptops.

Police are warning residents to lock their car doors and remove valuable items.

The Greenwich thefts come a few days after similar car thefts were reported in Argyle, police say. The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating the Argyle thefts.
