FLORIDA, NY – Berry Kiskis and his friend Bryan Hartman sat and watched as New York State Police removed box after box of potential evidence from behind this house on Snooks Corners Road in the town of Florida.

“It's the country you don't expect two dead bodies to turn up,” said Kiskis.

The remains of the two bodies were found in the overgrown field behind the house around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

“The case is certainly suspicious in nature, when ever you have a body in a field we treat them as potential crime scenes, as we're doing in this case,” said Lt. Robert Poisson, of the New York State Police Department, who is handling the case.

Police are not commenting on who found the bodies, the age or sex of the bodies, cause of death or how long they may have been there.

“We are not going to comment on the scene until the continuing investigation gives us more information we are just not prepared to do that,” said Poisson.

This case literally hits close to home for Berry and Bryan, not only do they live nearby, but they were recently riding dirt bikes in the area the body was found.

“They could probably be there for quite some time without anyone seeing them, that's a lot of land right there even if you were just walking back there, the chances of finding something are pretty slim,” said Hartman.

Scott Phelps parents live in the house where the police investigation was centered.

“They are going back and forth, we don't know, they won't tell us anything,” said Phelps.

Police were asked if there is any reason to believe the case could be connected to two teenagers who were reported missing last Tuesday in Amsterdam. Police said there is no evidence to indicate that but at this point they are not ruling anything out.

“Every resource is being used, recalled and implemented in order to get to the bottom of this case,” said Poisson.
