NORTHUMBERLAND, N.Y. – State police say a dropped cell phone is to thank for identifying the suspect of a home burglary in Saratoga County on Thursday.
Police say 25-year-old Thomas Sutliff Jr., of Averill Park, was arrested after a woman arrived at her residence on Route 32 in the town of Northumberland around 2:20 p.m. interrupting the alleged burglary. Police say Sutliff fled the home when the homeowner arrived, but dropped his cell phone in the home on the way out. Information from the phone provided the suspect's identity.
Police say jewelry
was stolen from the home during the burglary. Rifles and shotguns were found
gathered on the floor, apparently to be removed by the suspect, but were
left when he exited.
Sutliff was found later Thursday afternoon in the town of Nassau, arrested and charged with Burglary 2nd-degree, a felony.
