ALBANY, N.Y. – Albany police arrested a 19-year-old Thursday afternoon after he allegedly tried to stab someone in the stomach.
Police say they arrested Clinton Avent, of 201 Kent Street, after they received a call from the victim saying he had just tried to stab him with a knife.
The victim told officers that while at North Main Avenue and Kent Street, Avent approached him and the two began to argue. He stated that during the altercation Avent lunged at him with a folding knife and tried stab him in the stomach. He said he quickly stepped back to get away from him and the knife punctured a hole in the coat that he was wearing.
A description of Avent was broadcasted over the police radio and a short time later an officer spotted him walking near North Main Avenue and Benson Street.
Avent was arrested without incident and charged with Attempted Assault 2nd and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th. He has been remanded to the Albany County Jail.
