WATERVLIET, NY – A proposal to demolish the Saint Patrick's Church in Watervliet was a topic for debate at the city council meeting Thursday night.
The church has been a landmark in the area for years, it was founded in 1840. Many people didn't want to see the church demolished and others were concerned about what would be built in its place. There have been rumors that it would be made into commercial property.
The church was closed last year as part of a diocese plan for restructuring.
