ALBANY, N.Y. – A popular Albany diner is closing its doors for good.
Friday is the last day of business for the Miss Albany Diner, after owner Jane Brown decided to retire. “I've done this for so long,” Brown said, “I am definitely ready to stop. I want to travel. I have family all over the country and I want to see them.” Brown also says she is a new great-grandmother to a baby boy, so she wants to spend time with him.
The business is being sold to the owners of the Biergarten next door.
The turn-out of customers was good for the diner's last day, with many loyal customers coming by reminiscing about times spent at the diner. “I think the ambiance is even more important to me than the food. The food is great, but the ambiance of this place, there's nothing like that around here,” says one customer.
Brown says she is looking forward to her retirement and she hopes to write a cook book including many of the recipes that were served at the Miss Albany Diner over the years.
