Wilton woman back in court for step-great-grandmother’s murder

WILTON, N.Y. – A former Wilton woman is expected to appeal her conviction in the death of her 91-year-old step-great-grandmother.

In 2001, Katherine Seeber was sentenced to 20 years-to-life in prison after she pleaded guilty to strangling her step-great-grandmother, Ruth Witter.

Since then, the forensic investigator on Seeber's case has been called into question.

A review by prosecutors statewide concluded that the forensic investigator on the case, Gary Veeder, had routinely failed to conduct required tests but presented results as though he did.

Seeber, as well as Jeffrey Hampshire were both charged in Witter's death.

Seeber is back in Saratoga County Court today.
