ATHENS, N.Y. — For the second time in two days, police in Greene County are investigating a deadly accident involving a high school student.

This time, a 17-year-old boy has died.

Michael Vaughan, 17, of Athens was killed Wednesday morning when he was struck by a vehicle while walking along Route 9W around 4 a.m.

Police said the teen was walking with his brother when a car driven by Jillian Conway, 22, of Coxsackie, hit him.

Vaughan was pronounced dead on the scene. Neither Conway nor Vaughan's brother were hurt.

The road was closed in the area of Leeds-Athens and Vosenkill roads for about four hours. Neighbors living along 9W say the stretch of road is dangerous and have been the site of several of deadly accidents.

Conway has not been charged in connection with the accident. Police are not sure what may have contributed to the crash.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of Vaughan's death.
