SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) – A 38-year-old man has admitted setting a woman on fire after she complained to others that he had sold her fake crack cocaine.
Kevin Boone pleaded guilty to first-degree assault Thursday in Schenectady County Court. Police say 40-year-old Amy Gilroy was burned on the back, shoulders and face after Boone doused her with lighter fluid and set her ablaze in July. Prosecutors say she recovered after treatment at Westchester Medical Center.
Boone was on parole at the time of the attack and will have to complete his prior prison sentence before he begins serving the 15-year sentence he's expected to receive on April 30 for the assault.
