PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) – Authorities say eight people have been arrested and a variety of drugs seized during a series of raids across Berskhire County.
District Attorney David Capeless tells The Berkshire Egale the raids in Pittsfield, Richmond and Adams on Wednesday are the “first phase” of an ongoing investigation. He says more arrests are expected in a “significant” drug ring.
Police seized about $50,000 in reputed drug money as well as 25 pounds of marijuana, more than 150 grams of cocaine, more than 100 OxyContin pills, methadone tablets, and a loaded handgun.
A judge held all of the defendants on bail and ordered one detained on a probation violation. The lawyer for one defendant claimed the woman is a student at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts with a perfect grade point average.
