TROY — Hudson Valley Community College is still basking in the glow of President Barack Obama's visit.
Although just a fraction of students actually saw the president Monday, hundreds watched the speech replayed Friday on the big screen at Joe Bruno Stadium.
All that national attention had piqued the interest of thousands, now interested in HVCC. And here's proof – on Monday, 19,000 people watched the president's speech on the college's website. Its homepage saw a record 22,000 hits.
But perhaps the best recognition these students can get is right here at home from future employers.
Drew Matonak, President of HVCC, says the school is “Working with business and industry so that we can provide that skilled work force that we absolutely need here in Tech Valley.”
Of course, TEC-SMART is the new campus being built right near the GlobalFoundries chip-fab plant, and after the President's plug for this 21st century institution, emails asking for information nearly tripled.
