The search for a man who went into the frigid waters of the Hudson River appeared to end Tuesday as police pulled a body from the water.
The body that police believe is 41-year-old Darren LaRose was brought ashore on the Green Island side of the river, and NEWS10 is told it was found just a short distance from where police say LaRose jumped into the water over the weekend at Hoosick and River Streets.
LaRose was fishing with a nephew Saturday night when LaRose apparently jumped into the near 40-degree water and never resurfaced. Both men had been drinking.
His family reacted to the body being found.
Brother Todd LaRose said Tuesday, “They said the body they found looks pretty good actually, so the grim reality is it probably is the body of my brother, Darren LaRose.”
Police have not yet positively identified the body as Darren LaRose, but do believe it's him.
